The idea of a training trip to Marrakech is easy to love and slightly daunting to book. If it’s your first one, the questions pile up fast: What do I pack? How fit do I need to be? What actually happens each day? Do I need my own gear? This guide answers all of it in one place, so you can book with confidence and turn up ready.

Before you book: three things to decide

  • How hard you want to go. Full training grind, gentle active reset, or a mix? This shapes everything else. There’s no wrong answer — just be honest about what you actually want.
  • When to come. Marrakech is warm and dry most of the year; autumn to spring is ideal for comfortable winter-sun training, summer is hotter. Pick your window around the weather you train best in.
  • Solo, with friends, or a group. The experience works either way — come alone and meet people, or bring your own crew. Explore the accommodation at Life Resort Marrakech when planning the stay itself.

What to pack for a training trip

Category Bring
Training kit Enough workout clothes for multiple sessions a day — you’ll get through more than you think. Breathable, layerable for warm days and cooler evenings.
Footwear Trainers you’ve already broken in — never new shoes on a training trip. Note: for Muay Thai you train barefoot.
Discipline-specific gear Your own gloves and wraps for striking, or gi for BJJ, if you have them — otherwise ask ahead about what’s provided.
Recovery basics A reusable water bottle, any mobility tools you rely on, and your usual recovery kit. A yoga or mobility session can also form part of your recovery while you’re here.
Sun & heat Sun cream, sunglasses, a hat — the Marrakech sun is strong even outside summer.
Downtime Swimwear for the pool and spa, and comfortable casual clothes for long dinners and slow afternoons.

The one rule of packing for training:

Pack for the sessions, not for a standard holiday. More training clothes than you’d expect, worn-in footwear, sun protection, and your recovery essentials. Everything else is detail — and much of the big stuff, including mats, weights and training space, is already there.

How to prepare in the weeks before

  • Keep training as normal. You don’t need to peak — just arrive in your usual rhythm so the first days don’t flatten you. If strength work is part of that routine, you can keep it going in the indoor weight room.
  • Sleep well beforehand. Bank rest before you travel, especially if you’re flying in and starting soon after.
  • Don’t over-diet into it. Arrive fuelled, not depleted. A training week is not the time to be running on empty.
  • Sort the boring admin. Check passport, travel insurance that covers your activity, and any usual medication.

What a day actually looks like

There’s no rigid itinerary — that’s the point of a resort format over a fixed group programme. But a typical day finds its own shape: a main session in the cool of the morning, a proper lunch and downtime through the midday heat, a lighter second session such as a HIIT class or a recovery activity in the afternoon, then dinner and a slow evening. You train hard when your body performs best, then genuinely rest. Some days you’ll push; others you’ll take off entirely. You set it.

Getting there

Fly into Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) — direct from many UK and European cities, usually a 3–4 hour flight. From there it’s a short transfer out to the resort. Tell us your arrival details and we’ll help with the practicalities of getting to you. You can also check the Life Resort FAQ for more practical information on airport transfers, training, equipment and your stay.

Frequently asked questions

How fit do I need to be before I come?

Fitter helps, but it’s not a requirement — sessions scale to all levels, including complete beginners. Arrive in your normal training rhythm and build from there.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

Bring your own gloves, wraps or gi if you have them and prefer your own. If you’re new or travelling light, get in touch before your stay and we’ll tell you what’s provided.

What’s the best time of year for a first trip?

Autumn to spring gives comfortable, warm winter-sun conditions that suit most people. Summer is hotter — great if you like training in heat, worth planning around if not.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely — plenty of people do. The format works well for solo travellers, whether you want to keep to yourself or meet others training that week.

How do I get from the airport to the resort?

It’s a short transfer from Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK). Share your arrival details with us and we’ll help you sort the practicalities.
